Pumpkinland

I took Gabriela and Sophia to Pumpkinland last Friday. We went with our ward's mothers group. I lucked up, because Miguel happened to show up and was going to work from home, so I left Julianne with him to take a nap. So much more pleasant not having to worry about her. The girls had fun playing with their friends and running around in the crisp air. We picked out three pumpkins and carving them is on the agenda for tonight's Family Home Evening.

Mushrooms

Gabriela delightedly exclaimed, "hey mom, look, these are mushrooms," as she stuck her raspberries on her fingers. Julianne caught on really fast and then proceeded to have a melt down because she pushed her chubby little fingers right through them. You know you're one when your melt downs are due to broken raspberries. Kids...got a love'em.

Family Photos, Outfits, & Ice Skating

This is a really random post that sums up our week. At he beginning of the week, we were all down with a stomach flu of some sort. Tuesday we had family pictures taken by our good friend up Hobble Creek Canyon. They turned out cute, but I'm saving them for the Christmas cards. You can see a small one on the side bar, but that's all your gettin' till Christmas. This photo was taken the night before pictures, after I had rolled their hair. Cute smiles from everyone. This was my sewing project this week. The girls loved them.
Yesterday, Miguel surprised us with lunch with Grandma and Grandpa and then we went up to Salt Lake to watch the girls second cousin Daniela compete in an ice skating competition. She was so good at only age 9. We were all very proud of her and the she was so kind to the girls. Gabriela was in awe over her and Sophia just kept rubbing her outfit and feeling her rhinestones. It's always fun to meet new family members.

Heritage Makers Party Tonight!

Just a reminder that I'm hosting a Heritage Makers party tonight. They create books, board books, calendars, and a dozen other things with your digital photos. Things to Remember

I just wanted to jot down a couple of things that have happened that would be fun to remember. This is after all my journal.

I discovered today that my children really are Mexican American. We served pretty authentic tacos tonight and the next thing I know my kids are dipping their tacos in ketchup. I told them their Grandmother would be so displeased to see them do that. The weird thing is, it was Gabriela who initiated it. Up until the last week, the child wouldn't touch ketchup with a ten foot pole. If I have had any success from joy school, it would be that we converted Gabriela to ketchup. I gave them a blind taste test and ketchup was one of the items. Ever since then she proudly proclaims that she likes ketchup.

While making dinner tonight, Sophia comes crying to me that Gabriela pushed her. To humor her, I asked her if Gabriela needed a spank? She said "Yes," of course. So I dramatically march to their bedroom and told Gabriela not to push Sophia and that Sophia thought she needed a spank. She gives me this sad puppy dog face and shakes her head no. I start winking at her and telling her "Come on Gabriela, get up, you need a little Spank." She was not getting my sarcasm at all, so I gently lift her and swat her on the bum. I'm totally amusing Sophia or at least I thought. I said, "o.k. Sophia I gave her a spank, are you o.k. now?" She says, "She's not crying!" Boy that's some vengence she's got for her sister. So I just told Gabriela to cry and not to push her sister. It made me laugh though. Now I know the truth.

The other night, Sophia wanted to go to bed wearing her Sleeping Beauty costume. I let her and then I thought I would be funny and told her that she must prick her finger on the thumb tack so she would fall asleep. I got all dramatic about it and in my best Malificent voice I declared, "Touch It...Touch It I Say!" She pricked her finger and closed her eyes. Of course Gabriela had to do it too. In the morning they come to me all hot and bothered proclaiming that I did not go in and give them a kiss to wake them up. In my head I'm thinking, yeah right, I'm not waking you up. Anyways it's stuck all week. They have to prick their finger to fall asleep.

The Big Reveal

So I've been working on this dress over the last couple of days and I think it turned out so stinkin' cute. I wouldn't let her wear it with that green shirt normally, but her white shirt was dirty. I'm so proud of myself and for that it was well worth my effort. It's reasons like this that I'm so happy to have three girls.

Julianne was my little helper while I was sewing during the girls naptime. She always seemed to wake up first. Sometimes I get sad and wish I could sew and do crafts with my Mom, because she loves it as much as I do, but the other day when I looked over at Julianne, I realized that my Mom is always with me. Just a miniature version of her! Love ya, Mom.

Painting with Pudding

For Joy School today, we did pudding paintings. Of course Julianne had to get in on the action, and boy howdy, did she ever! She was not in a good mood today and when I pulled out the camera it infuriated her quite frankly, but I just couldn't help myself to these photos. Oh and not everyone can pull off that hair do. That's a Julianne specialty. It's what's left over from her pig tails yesterday and her bed head from last night. One of my walking buddies said it looked like Ace Ventura, but I think Bozo the Clown is more appropriate. Got a love it!
