Miguel's cousin Miriam was married yesterday in the Salt Lake Temple. Their reception was held last night and we all had a great time. It was fun to see her whole family come up from Mexico and for Miguel to see all of his cousins. Gabriela thought Miriam had turned into a princess, that was why she was so tickled to have her picture taken with her.
Their was an awesome Mariachi band, a tradition it seems for our family's weddings. One of the guys has played at all of the Ruiz kids weddings. I love, love, love it. Julianne was good and didn't get frightened by the loud music. She's a sweet baby, but a little too attached to Mom. So many people wanted to hold her, but after a few seconds she would get sad. As soon as I pick her up, she quiets right down.
Miguel's cousin Enrique married a girl named Lindsay, so there are too Lindsay Ruizes in the same family. Weird huh.
Gabriela found entertainment by collecting all of the tulle bows off the back of the chairs and decorating herself. My mother would be horrified, but noone seemed to mind. She also put on quite the show. While the mariachis were playing she was in the center of the dance floor shaking her groove thing. She has some serious moves. What can we say, it runs in the family.

My baby's goin' to school
Gabriela went to her preschool orientation at Learning Dynamics Preschool yesterday. I can't believe she's already big enough to go. I'm excited for her, because I know she's smart as a whip. I really think she's going to flourish in school. It will be fun to see her develop and learn how to read and write. This is her teacher Mrs. Olsen, who seems very sweet and kind.
The room is decorated so fun and Gabriela is pointing out her age on the wall.
Gabriela is most excited about having her good buddy Blake in her class. These two have been the best of friends since they were tiny. We used to be neighbors. When Gabriela saw him come into the classroom she ran and gave him a big bear hug and welcomed him to class. So cute.

Out of the mouth of Gabriela!
Gabriela has said some pretty interesting things lately. She surprises me a lot and makes me laugh. Yesterday, she fell down outside and scraped her shin pretty bad. She kept crying about it and whimpering and whining and it was loud. I kept telling her to cry quietly because we were in the car and it was really irritating. This had been going on for at least a half hour when as I was getting her out of the car I told her that she needed to go into acting because she is so over dramatic. She looked me squarely in the eye and said, "Mom are you being mean or are you being nice? If you are being funny, I'm not going to play with you. It's not funny." That's one of the first times that she wasn't sure what I was saying. It was so funny because she was so serious. Of course I told her I was being nice.
Tonight while she was saying her prayers, Sophia was sitting in her lap. In her prayer she says, "I'm thankful for Sophia, because she is crazy, I'm thankful for Mami, because she is fun, and I'm thankful for Papi, because he is funny." It made me smile.
One more. The other night we caught Gabriela sticking out her tongue and she says "this means I don't like you." Must have learned that from one of her cousins. Miguel told her that it wasn't nice and we better not hear her do it again. She then turns to Miguel and says "I'm not, I'm just showing you my beautiful pink tongue." Nice, Gabriela.
If your kids have said any good ones lately, feel free to share them with me.

Those baby blues!
That's right everyone...I think Julianne is going to have blue eyes like her mom. Can you believe it. I never thought that was possible considering the latino in her. Actually she doesn't look a thing like her dad or his side of the family. She's a little whitey like her mom. She's able to role over to her belly occasionally. She likes toys and is starting to blow bubbles and make cute little noises. What she doesn't like is to be put down or left alone.
Lately she acts more like a baby koala bear. She's attached to mom and usually to my hip. Look at that sweet baby smile.

My Beautiful Girl
Look at my little Sophia. She looks like a big girl. Last night after her bath I wanted to blow dry her hair, which I usually never do. I couldn't believe she stood their and let me do it. I thought I might try to push my luck and I got out my round brush and she sat their and round brush her hair while I was drying it. She was so adorable when it was done. I've never seen her hair look that good. I tried to snap a picture of her cute little self. She looks so pretty.
You can see another picture of it on the side bar.
