HAPPY EARTH DAY

In honor of Earth Day I thought I would share a couple of things that I do to try and help the environment. I've tried to "Go Green" in small ways and would like to know if you and your family are doing anything that you would be willing to share. I think if we all do a little it can make a big difference.

I try to serve the girls snacks in small plastic bowls and not plastic bags that get thrown away.
I try to use the same cup all day so I don't waste water washing more dishes.
I try to unplug the kitchen appliances when not in use, because they still suck energy when they are plugged in. (Technically you should unplug everything, but I do what I can)
I use one paper towel to dry my hands in public bathrooms instead of 3 or 4.
I also avoid buying individually wrapped items to cut down on trash going to landfills.

Anyways, these are some ideas that have worked for me, but please share others, so that perhaps we can implement some of them in our home. Heavenly Father blessed us with a beautiful home , so lets do our part in helping it stay that way.

Hey Linds- I have been thinking about this a lot too. My big thing is that I try to never use bottled water. I only use it when I have to but I just have a water filter and I just refill a mug that I try to take with me everywhere. Our city has recycling services with the garbage so that is nice and easy. Did you see the compost thing on oprah? Disgusting. I can't get that into, but I do try to do what I can! :-)

Wow Lindsay, you're thinking big. I have yet to even think about that! Not that it's not all over the media, i just have sort of skipped over it, thinking it's not for me. :) But now that you have written about it, I'm going to start doing my part a little bit too. I could definitely cut down on baggies... and other things. Gosh, now that I have stopped to think about it, I'm very greedy and wasteful. Thanks for insiring me. I'm "just" a stay at home mom, but I can make a difference too. Thanks!
